Elgin St. Thomas

Name of Committee: Elgin St. Thomas Age Friendly Advisory Committee

Population: 90,000

Program Description:

In 2016, the former Elgin St. Thomas Health Unit secured the funding and gathered community partners together to form a steering committee and develop a community action plan. Although the committee is chaired by someone from the City of St. Thomas, most of the coordination is done by Southwestern Public Health. The Elgin St. Thomas Age Friendly Community Plan will be a living document that serves as a lens for future planning and a template for ongoing community relationship building and collaborative planning. It provides clear linkages to other municipal and community planning initiatives and forges vital partnerships between local agencies, community groups, service providers, the City of St. Thomas and Elgin County, funders and seniors and their families.
