CSAH partners with Queen’s University and other educational institutions to support both self-paced and facilitated online learning in aging and health. We offer age-related course material to support a range of learners needs.
The Core Geriatrics Curriculum includes topics routinely covered within the undergraduate and resident teachings in Geriatric Medicine at Queen's University. Materials will also be relevant to other health professional groups.
CSAH is passionate about lifelong learning for health care providers and others working with older adults. We have partnered with community agencies, long-term care and hospitals to provide evidenced based practice information through in-person, web-based and blended learning opportunities. November 4th to December 1, 2019. This online workshop for healthcare and other professionals aims to help participants understand the importance and implications of neuroscience as professionals working with older adults, including i) better understanding ourselves, ii) understanding why we are so wired to connect socially with others, iii) exploring what deep safety is to the brain and how we use it to promote well-being and that of those under our care, and iv) implementing an organizational model of dementia care based on neuroscience and mindfulness. Oct 7-8th 2019, 8:00AM-4:00PM EST. This series will include formal didactic sessions on dementia, delirium, depression, mobility, falls, capacity and living with risk. Afternoons will include integrated case-based sessions ocused on the formal didactic session topics with additional discussions on elder abuse, pain, nutrition and driving. Baycrest, in partnership with North East Specialized Geriatric Centre, is recruiting for the Fall 2019 program of "Project ECHO Care of the Elderly Long-Term Care (ECHO COE LTC), a telehealth education program that aims to help primary care providers build capacity in the care of older adults through weekly 60-minute videoconference sessions. The sessions will run weekly from September 10 - December 3, 2019 on Tuesdays from 11am -12pm with the exception of October 1st, 2019. See the pdf flyers for more information.
