This study was designed to identify social network types among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults and examine the relationship between social network type and mental health.

This publication reports on the 2014 data from the Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging and Sexuality/Gender Study (NHAS), the largest national American survey focused on the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) older adults.

The authors argue that LGBT person’s needs are often overlooked in dementia care and share their findings from a workshop they facilitated to capture ideas for best practices developed by people with personal and professional experience of these unique challenges.
